Description: Napier Cream Plastic, Goldtone Wire and Clear Rhinestone Fish Pin - Thermoplastic piece, perhaps originally white? but perhaps not. Excellent condition, 1 5/8" x 1 1/2", uses a lattice type base that better 1960's-1970's pieces sometimes used. Fun piece and very wearable. Interest in Napier is increasing.

Item: SP7-698

Description: Regency Brooch in Multi Metalics & Topaz Rhinestones - For those of you who like their sparklies a little more on the subtle side, this should fill the bill. This is a combination of arum (gold metallic rhinestone), Comet Argent Light (CAL - a lighter silver metallic rhinestone), CAD (same type stone in a darker silver, almost hematite looking) , Colorado topaz and black diamond rhinestones, all prong set in a brass setting. One marquise and the largest bottom round are replacements. 2" x 1 3/8". Lovely for a night on the town or on fall-winter apparel.

Item: SP2-697

Price: $29.50 US

Description: Tortolani Faux Pearl/Goldtone Demi Parure - Necklace, earring and brooch set from a rare but highly esteemed company, which was in production from 1950 to 1976. Noted for their beautiful designs and excellent workmanship, these pieces epitomize this reputation. Double chain herringbone necklace has a foldover clasp; pendant portion has a floral motif that uses large pear shaped glass pearl pieces, from which dangle 7 graduated chains in front, and five longer graduated chains in back that terminate with a stylized pineapple piece. Chains are about 16.5", pendant portion is a little over 4" at longest point. Clip earrings use the floral motif and are1 1/8" x 1" and have the orignal comfort cushions. Brooch is 2 3/4" x 2". All pieces are signed Torolani . Slight signs of wear on the pendant portion of the necklace, otherwise excellent condition. The necklace is particularly beautiful.

Item: SS2-693

Price: $125.00/demi parure US

Description: Early 1940's Huge Reinad Floral Brooch - Reinad jewelry is scarce, and large (4 3/8" x 2 5/8") multi layer pieces are a "once every 20 years if you're lucky" find. This is the only piece I've seen in person. Goldtone, prong set purple stones in second layer are accented with bead set clears and a pave set crescent shape, from which emanates a 5-fingered layer with an underlayer of 7 clear rhinestone set fingers. Purple layer surmounts an all-metal layer of leaves, which sits atop of another layer of leaves which have a ruffled appearance and are bordered with small clears, all atop pave set stems. This item has some condition issues; quite a few of the clears are replacements, and the top "five fingers", as well as back of piece, show plating wear. All metal layeralmost appears to be sterling, as it is a different color, almost rose gold in appearance but somewhat darkened. However, design, rarity, size, and beauty far outweigh these relatively minor condition issues. As one well-known jewelry author says, "if you find a piece of Reinad, buy it".

Item: SP1-668

Price: $345.00 US

Description: Schoffel Austria Riviere Necklace and Earring Set - While my picture would indicate a dark brown for the stones here, these are honey colored in person, and absolutely beautiful stones they are! All dog-toothed prong set in goldtone, the stones are all 11mm in diameter with the exception of smaller 6mm stones used on the tail. Clip earrings use an unusual clip finding. All pieces marked with the Schoffel crown mark. Goldtone setting, wonderful quality and heft. Earrings are about 7/8", necklace adjusts up to 16".

Item: SS1-662

Price: $165.00/set US

Description: Joan Rivers Set of Two Bracelets - "Night and Day" - Identical bracelets, one with clear rhinestones, one all metal. Goldtone, 7 1/4" long x 1/4" wide. Pristine condition, never worn. From the early days of Joan Rivers on QVC when all pieces were made in the USA.

Item: SBS5-663

Price: $25.00/pr. US

Description: Bettina Von Walhof Eagle Pin with Flag - This piece is not particularly old but certainly works well with vintage pieces. Bettina specializes in figurals done with rhinestone chain, and here she has cleverly used it for a dangling flag in red/white, and blue, beneath an eagle in light and medium topaz with a clear rhinestone head and neck. Gunmetal type setting, signed B&M von Walhof in script inside a heart shaped plaque, for Bettina and Michelle (her daughter). Almost 2" x 1 3/4". Excellent unworn condition.

Item: SP4-655

Price: $35.00 US

Description: Selini Floral Brooch in Purple, Yellow and Green - Apparently part of the Selro jewelry company, Selini made all rhinestone pieces as well as those that combined enamel with rhinestone. This has not only enamel and purple rhinestones but yellow plastic floral "stamens" that scream 1960's and make this three dimensional piece not only look quite realistic but utterly charming as well. The lavender enameling is wearing along the edges of the petals (one petal in particular shows enamel loss) and very slight loss of the green enamel along the edges; however the missing enamel along the edges almost looks like part of the design and I find this piece very attractive as is. However, I have priced accordingly. About 3" x 2 1/2" x 3/4" deep.

Item: SP3-652

Price: $47.50 US

Description: Panetta Dangling Rhinestone Earrings - Panetta, another rarely found company, was started by a man who had been a fine jeweler in Italy before moving to America, and when you see a piece of Panetta you can certainly tell that influence. Beautifully made and classically elegant, these look like the real thing and are top quality and condition. Floral motif tops are have prong set clears and surmount a pave set elongated Y shape, from which an unfoiled pendaloque cut pear shape is suspended. Clip findings and body of earrings are both marked Panetta. 1 3/4" x 3/8". Rhodium plating. Excellent original condition. Wonderful attention to detail.

Item: SE11-646

Price: $49.50 US

Description: Pakula Multi Green Rhinestone Domed Brooch - A very pretty and unusual combination of lime (peridot), green tourmaline and olivine green rhinestones, this uses the slightly green goldtone plating that indicates this was probably manufactured for Pakula by Hollycraft. 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" x almost 1/2" deep, this is in excellent original condition. Signed Pakula with copyright symbol.

Item: SPRLS-640

Price: $27.50 US

Description: Lovely Joseph Wiesner NY Basket Brooch - The flowerbasket motif is one of my favorites - if you have seen the book "All My Baskets" you know how many beautiful designs there are. Joseph Wiesner seems to be kind of a mystery figure in the jewelry world, with little known about him. It does appear that he is not the same as "Wiesner of Miami". At any rate, aqua and clear rhinestones seems to be a favorite color combination of this company, and I would guess this to be late 1940's-early 1950's. A large 2 5/8" x 2 5/8", this features one large a many small aqua rhinestone ovals, and the rest in clear round rhinestones. Silvertone setting, excellent condition.

Item: SP1-610

Price: $99.50 US

•••

Description: Wiesner Aqua and Clear Earrings - Even though I found these in a completely different place than the Wiesner basket brooch SP1-610 , these appear to be a match! Silvertone, clip, all the aqua ovals are prong set and the pave clears are in excellent shape. 1 1/8" x 7/8". Wiesner is infrequently found.

Item: SE1-686

Price: $34.50 US

Description: Nettie Rosenstein Jonquil/Clear Floral Brooch - Ms. Rosenstein's pieces are rare but always worth the effort! This classic (and classy) piece done with a pave set center ball in jonquil (light yellow) rhinestone, with a larger stone in jonquil set on the top. The radiating leaves are all pave set with clear rhinestones, in silvertone, with the rest in goldtone, as per fine jewelry. Alternating leaves on lower level are all goldtone. Signed Nettie Rosenstein in script, this measures 2" in diameter and is curved for a realistic 3-D effect. Excellent condition with very slight aging on the clear pave. When you need elegant, here it is.

Item: SP10-650

Price: $125.00 US

•••

Description: Nettie Rosenstein Sterling Fur Clip - One of the fashion industry icons from the 1920's-1950's, Rosenstein's name is synonomous with elegance and taste, and her better jewelry items are sought after and not easy to find. Because of the use of sterling on this piece I would date it to the early to mid 1940's. This uses a leaves and berries motif, with coral colored glass wound beads topped with black glass dots. I'm not sure what berry this is supposed to portray. At any rate, while this is not in perfect condition, it is a worthy addition to any jewelry collection and extremely wearable. There are two black glass dots missing on one berry but the bead can be rotated so that those are on the back side. Vermeil (goldtone over sterling) finish is worn along edges but is still in quite good condition compared to many pieces of the same time frame/materials. About 2" x 1 3/4", clip mechanism is tight. Oh so pretty on black, coral, or even white. Classic design means wearable forever.

Description: Warner Day Into Night Mechanical Brooch - Done in all goldtone and extremely 3 dimensional, this cute piece goes from completely open (top picture) to closed (bottom picture) by moving the right hand lower leaf. Marked Warner New York, this is 2" in diameter and 1" deep. Excellent condition.

Item: SP6-552

Description: Original by Robert Necklace and Earring Set - Two strand pendant necklace with matching clip earrings. Pendant and earrings are centered with a light blue enameled rose, surrounded with small chalk white seed bead flowers and larger cream colored beads and a baroque pearl, as well as white givre and light blue rhinestones. Necklace also has an elaborate bale with similar components, and the chain strands have more of the same types of components as well as a paper-clip type chain. Darkened silvertone setting. Clip earrings are 1 3/4" x 1 1/4". Adjustable chain necklace is 16" with a 1 3/4" tail extension. Pendant is 2 1/2" from top of bale to tip. As with most Robert pieces of this type, some of the cream colored glass beads and baroque pearls have some peeling, and I have replaced the eyepins that were verdigrised. Very good overall condition.

Item: SS4-550

Price: $89.50 US

•••

Description: Otis Sterling Deco Style Brooch - This was a design that Otis used for not only brooches but bracelets and necklaces as well. The Otis "look" seems to have always been a fine jewelry one, using lots of small stones. This particular piece uses rounds, baguettes and squares, with the focal point being a kind of wheel in the center flanked by open circles and bars at either end. All clear rhinestones are used with all being paste set except for the baguettes that have end pronging. All seems original and in excellent shape, with some uniform darkening of the stones but still lots of sparkle. 2 3/8" x almost 3/4" at widest point at the middle. Signed Otis at one end and sterling at the other.

Item: SP8-509

Price: $37.50 US

•••

Description: Otis Sterling Sapphire and Clear Rhinestone Brooch - At 2" x 1 1/4", this is a small brooch, but it is top quality in every way and could easily pass for fine jewelry. Deep blue marquises make up the flower petals in this design, and a blue baguette "ribbon" encircles the pave set stems. Leaves are also done in clear pave rhinestone. Probably rhodium plated as there are no signs of tarnish, and this is in excellent original condition in every respect.

Item: SP6-518

Price: $79.50 US

•••

Description: Pell Glass Pearl and Rhinestone Brooch - Another elegant piece from a rarely found company. Creamy-white glass pearls are surrounded by lots of tiny rhinestones in this stylized floral brooch. Rhodium plating, 2 3/4" x 1". Two rhinestones are replacements. Very good condition with some residual glue showing around the bottom of some of the pearls; this appears to be original and just has darkened over time.

Item: SP11-647

Price: $34.50 US

•••

Description: Pell Pinwheel Brooch in Dark Montana Blue and Clear Rhinestones - Three companies that start with P are highly regarded and difficult to find - Pennino, Polcini (Ledo) and Pell. This piece is elegance defined on a navy blue jacket, top or dress. Made to look like fine jewelry. One small clear is a replacement, otherwise excellent original condition. 2" in diameter.

Item: SP12-404

Price: $89.50 US

Description: Sandor Beaded Earrings - These incredible earrings, all hand-made in the style of Haskell, are marked Sandor on the clips.  Dark navy faceted cylinder beads are surrounded by small wired rows of dark navy seed beads, with other beads having end caps or held in place by single clear seed beads.  Indian blue rhinestones are all prong set into endcaps, and three small beads and four more Indian blue rhinestones in endcaps dangle off the side and bottom of each earring.  Double filigree base measures 1 1/2" x 3/4". French clips, quality components. Everything appears to be handwired and in perfect shape.  Little works of art.  $95.00

Item: SE1-008

Price: $95.00 US

Sorry, SOLD!

Description: Sphinx Baroque Cab Pearl and Rhinestone Earrings - At first glance these might be mistaken for Haskell. Center "bumpy" pearl is surrounded by 5 smaller smooth cream colored glass pearls and 5 marquise shaped rhinestones. Clip mechanism, not quite 1" in diameter. Also marked E2217, apparently a style number. Sphinx is an English company that I believe is still in business but is not found very often this side of the pond!

Item: SE1-140

Price: $25.00 US

•••

Description: Regency Pentagonal Brooch in Blues - Whether this looks like a stylized star or what to you, this substantial brooch is a wonderful stand alone or part of a grouping brooch. Gunmetal setting with grey pearlized cabochon ovals and round, and very light blue, light blue, and blue aurora borealis rhinestones. Hook and eye construction holds top layer to bottom layer. Center "pearl" has an "ouchie", and one larger stone has a tiny chip on the underside of one edge, but at this price perhaps you can just enjoy it as is.

Item: SP2-151

Price: $39.00 US

•••

Description: Swarovski Pave Rhinestone Button Earrings - Swan mark on earring and clip findings marked Swarovski. Quality right down to the pads on the clips. Goldtone, 3/4" in diameter. Excellent to mint condition - I can find no flaw.

Item: SE4-344

Price: $19.50 US

•••

Description: Panetta Glass Pearl and Clear Rhinestone Earrings and Brooch Set - When I purchased these they were sold to me as a set; the earrings are marked Panetta but the brooch is unsigned. After close examination I am quite certain that they are a set and that they are both Panetta. The pearl colors and pave work appear to be an identical match, quality and workmanship are the same throughout. Heavily rhodium plated and excellent original condition - a few of the small clears on the earrings have yellowed slightly, otherwise prisitine, no scuffing of the pearls that I can find. Earrings are 1 1/8" x 3/4" and brooch is 2 3/4" x 1 1/8". Made to pass as fine jewelry and very elegant. Panetta was in business into the early 1990's and was very expensive when originally sold.

Item: SS5-427

Price: $57.50 US

Sorry, SOLD!

•••

Description: Staret Floral Brooch with Cobalt Blue Stones - Staret, as far as I know, was only in business during the 1940's, and this piece reflects its wartime genesis. It is my belief that the blue stones are plastic, which were used even by the top quality names when glass stones became unavailable at any price. Clear rhinestones outline portions of the floral design and to my knowledge are also original. 3 1/2" x 2".

Item: SP5-189

Price: $195.00 US

•••

Description: Warner Wreath Pin Whether or not this piece was originally sold as a Christmas piece or not is unclear, but what a lovely pin for the holiday season, especially if you like pastels. Warner is a brand not found very frequently, but pieces I have seen all have been of very good quality. The large light blue rounds that make up this piece have a lot of sparkle, and the pieces of light blue rhinestone chain between each stone add an extra twinkle. Diameter: 1.875"

Item: SP7-076

Price: $50.00 US

Sorry, SOLD!

•••

Description: Valfran, Brody and Balardi Sterling Retro Brooch - Done in a "pinwheel" design, this piece has mellowed to the point where I am not sure whether this is yellow or rose gold wash - it is almost an in-between color. Center is made like half of a rhinestone ball. Stones are glass smokey topaz colored rhinestones that are in very good condition foil-wise considering the open back setting. This is a very rare brand about which I have not been able to find any information.

Item: SP7-198

Price: $55.00 US

•••

Description: S in a Star Huge Brooch in Blue-Lavender Stones and Glass Pearls - I have had this wonderful piece before in a different color combination. The glass oval stones here are a lavender-blue that I have not seen in vintage pieces before (the other piece also used stones in a color that I have not ever seen, either.) I don't believe these to be faux alexandrite because while different lighting makes them look different, it is not the dramatic change one associates with the faux alexandrite. The original pearls in this piece were "holed" pearls, which I have replaced with "no-hole" pearls because the holed ones were pretty obvious and may, themselves, have not been original. A few clears were replaced before I got this piece, but most appear to be original. I have stabilized the clasp with a little cold solder. Price reflects these repairs. A whopping 4" x 2 1/2".

Item: SP11-360

Price: $65.00 US

•••

Description: Huge S in a Star Pair of Gilt Clear Rhinestone Dress Clips - S in a star was the mark of the Fred Grey Company; in addition, these also say "made in USA". Gilt clips are much less common than silvertone, and even less common are ones this size in a pair - each measure 2" x 1 5/8". One stone has dulled considerably. The clip backs are the same as we have found on all the S in a star pieces we have had with one interesting detail. The clips are riveted on and have a place for three rivets in the finding, but only one in the casting. We have added a little cold solder to keep these from being wobbly.
