Description: Reversible Necklace with Garnets and Blue Topaz - Relatively heavy necklace, marked sterling on the clasp and 925 and CH on the two clasp rings at the back. More ornate side is set with various sizes of rosecut (pointed top) garnets; reverse is set with aqua colored stones on the bezeled link that I am assuming are blue topaz. Vermeil setting, rolo type chain. A little over 16", about 7/16" at widest point. This piece was found, along with a garnet brooch, in a secret compartment of a Victorian era jewelry box. While double-duty pieces have long been used in fine jewelry, this reversibility is quite unique. The extra rings indicate that this may have originally had a safety chain, otherwise I can find no flaws. Item: NN5-224 Price: $495.00 US On HOLD! |

Description: Engel Brothers Clear Rhinestone Deco Style Bracelet - Engel Brothers was a NYC based company in business from at least 1931-1965, with pieces done in GF as well as base metal; interesting "double clasp" necklaces with snake chain on either side of a central motif have also been found. Probably sold in fine jewelry stores as an alternative to karat gold pieces, I have never seen any pieces that have not been of excellent quality. This piece uses a deco style design that alternates 6 circle links with 6 cutout links centered with a small square stone set on an angle, all set with small clear rhinestones. 7" x 5/16" with a stationary safety chain that made it difficult to photograph. Silvertone plate is slightly pitted on back side as is typical of these pieces. Older style push in clasp and signature, EB in an elongated diamond shape, indicates this is probably a pre-1940's piece. Stones have darkened a little and in fluorescent light I can see yellowing on a few of the stones, but they still have plenty of sparkle in this elegant piece. One linkage is slightly lower, this is something I didn't notice until I'd looked at it several times, and is not seen when worn. Item: NB5-240 Price: $69.50 US

Description: Unsigned Orchid Trembler Brooch - A very similar design to the Trifari orchid piece shown in the Brunialti book on American Costume Jewelry. This is probably a vintage copy, but who can say. This came to me missing a couple of the faceted 1930's baguettes, which are irreplaceable, so I have left the bottom "trembler" part original and have restoned the green channel set baguettes on the leaves with vintage, slightly later stones. Potmetal setting and stones have some wear/darkening, but the trembler works great and the quality "backward" safety clasp works well. 2 1/4" across widest point and 1 7/8" top to bottom. Brunialti lists the Trifari design as patented in 1936, so I think it is safe to assume that this piece is at least 70 years old. Item: NP5-193 Price: $42.50 US |

Description: Small Sash Pin - Though this may appear large in the photo, it is actually one of the smallest sash pins that I have ever had, measuring 1 3/4" x1". Typical c clasp and heavy pin steam, this features a cutwork design around a central unfoiled glass purple stone. Curved lines give this a Nouveau feel and I am guessing that this dates to the early 1900's. Brass setting. Other than the fact that the edges of the stone's table are worn as evidenced by the picture, it is in very good original condition. Item: NP5-116 Price: $20.00 US |

Description: Red Deco Brooch - Brass cut out brooch with plastic center "stone" and red guilloche enamel in a wonderful geometric pattern. 1 1/2" x 1", safety pin type c clasp. Item: NP5-0042 Price: $22.50 US |

Description: Set of Two Green Deco Brooches - Nope, you aren't seeing double. This is a set of two identical deco brooches, and these are the same design as the single red deco brooch NP5-0042, except that these are not enameled. The mottled green center "stone" looks like bakelite but I don't believe it is, too lightweight. The recessed areas on one brooch are more pronounced on one than the other, whether this is due to one having more patina or simply not having been equally "antiqued" at the factory is unknown. 1 3/4" x 1". Price is for the PAIR. (not sold separately) Item: NP5-197 Price: $29.50/set US |

Description: Large Dark Blue Czech Type Unfoiled Glass Brooch - Lovely heavily pronged unfoiled oval glass stones are set in silvertone and accented with small montana (navy) blue rhinestones. Quality pinback, well-made piece. Unusually large for this type of piece - 3 1/8" by not quite 1 1/2". Not old enough to be a sash pin. Beautiful piece in excellent condition. Item: NP5-110 Price: $69.50 US |

Description: Large Deco Style Brooch - While this looks somewhat like a buckle, it is not and never was one. Marked on the back "Alert Nov." on one side, and "Alert" on the other, I'm sure this was cast as a single piece. Mirror image design with three faceted red marquises on each side, channel set flat backed baguettes in the center and more baguettes running around the edges (three are replacements). All the rest of the stones are paved paste set clears, potmetal setting. 2 1/2" x 2". Item: NP5-0037 Price: $47.50 US |

Description: 1920's Sterling Line Bracelet with Clear Rhinestones - These stones appear to be bead hand set, which would have been fairly standard procedure for bracelets of this type. Clasp is a push-in type; however, only the better quality bracelets of this era seem to have safetys of some type, and this one is an ingenious swivel type (see small picture). Nice piece - a couple of the rhinestones appear to be replacements but are well done. Classic design, 6 7/8" x 3/16". Item: NB5-111 Price: $65.00 US ![]() |

Description: Pair of Deco Red/Clear Dress Clips - Oddly enough, I bought these separately, a couple of years apart. A double row of clear stones is flanked with pronged, flatback red baguettes, which are then bordered with a single row of clears, in a stepped design. Embossed clips are tight, potmetal setting. Some minor plating issues can be seen on the clip mechanisms in the second picture. I have taken both a flash and non-flash picture - the yellowing of the clears is somewhere in between, if you like a "brand new" look you will probably want to have the clears restoned. At 1 3/4" x 7/8", these are a larger pair, but while they could be worn singly I do believe they originally came in pairs at this size. Get out your red dress and clip these on the neckline for 30's glamour. Item: ND5-238 Price: $39.50/pair US |
|
Description: Brass Leaf Dress Clip - This smaller (2" x 1 1/2") clip may or may not have been part of a pair; seems almost too large for a pair but not large enough to definitely have been a single. However, for the modern collector, this is a nice size to wear with casual clothing on a v-neckline or clipped to a pocket or hat. I have not polished this as it has a nice patina but you may wish to remove some of the slight darkening around the edges. Nice design. Item: ND5-0036 Price: $9.50 US |

Description: Czech Type Huge Brooch Pendant in Colbalt Blue Glass Stones - Usual leaves and stones design, this 3 1/4" x 2 1/8" piece has beautiful large prong set unfoiled blue oval stones, accented with smaller blue round rhinestones. Dark silvertone setting, quality 1930's type pinstem/clasp. I am assuming the addition of the "bail" to make this into a pendant is aftermarket, though it is so well done that it is difficult to tell. I think the loop could be removed if you wished to only wear as a brooch. Excellent condition. Item: NPRLS5-643 Price: $89.50 US |

Description: Locket with Coiled Hair - Whether this was to be used as a pendant for a necklace or as a substitute for a pocketwatch on a watch chain, I don't know, but it is very similar to pocket watch cases. Outside has an engine turned pattern with a floral basket motif superimposed on one side. Inside, a picture that post-dates daguerreotype photography but not by much (ferrotype?) of a man in a suit with a very large bow tie which I think was typical of dress around the Civil War. On the opposite side is a coil of braided light blonde hair. 1 1/2" in diameter. Mourning and sentimental jewelry of this type has been around since early Victorian times; blonde hair is much more rare than dark. Item: NM5-0041 Price: $195.00 US ![]() |

Description: Baby Pin with Piece of Coral - Coral was thought to protect the wearer in Victorian times. This small coral piece is held in place by two small brass leaves; base has intricate embossed pattern around the coral, plus detail work around the edge of the oval platform and the small "steps" leading away from the central motif. What makes this piece particularly special is the back, engraved between the ends of the c clasp - Dec. 25, '90, making this piece a true antique, a Christmas gift given almost 120 years ago. Item: NP5-0043 Price: $35.00 US |

Description: Pink and Clear Glass Choker with Rhinestone Clasp - Lovely pink barrel shaped graduated beads are separated by clear glass bicones and a few pink rondelles at the center. Push-in clasp. This has been restrung for your security; clear spacers are not vintage. About 17" long. Item: NN5-136 Price: $34.50 US |

Description: Amber "Flying Saucer" Bead and Clear Necklace -Okay, these are actually bicone beads with softer edges, but they look kind of like 1930's depictions of alien spacecraft! Graduated amber colored beads alternate with unfaceted rounds in this 14" choker. Spring ring clasp - all looks original, including the stringing, which still seems quite secure. This could be extended if needed without much problem. Amber beads are uniform in color, lighting makes the center ones appear slightly darker in the picture. Item: NN5-124 Price: $34.50 US |

Description: "Glass Block" Style Clear Rhinestone Dress Clip - Cool deco styling makes this chunky dress clip interesting. Square clear rhinestones are set in rows at a right angle to each other in center front, making a 3-dimensional v-shape that is intriguing. Center is flanked by a row of clear rounds and another row of square clears. 1 1/2" x 1 5/8" x 1/4" deep. Excellent original condition. Item: ND5-054 Price: $19.50 US |

Description: Pink and Blue Faux Moonstone Cabs Dress Clip - A different colored version of UD12-586 (see the clips/duettes page). this is done in pink and light blue glass moonstone cabs, with lots of small clear rhinestones and black enameling for accents. Many people believe these to be early Trifari (KTF) pieces but this is, like all that I have ever seen, unmarked. This design is usual done in a mixture of colors; this is the first time I have seen it in just two colors. I have replaced some missing rhinestones, otherwise this is in excellent original shape. Half of a pair, perhaps you have the other? 1 1/2" x 1 3/8" at widest point. Item: ND5-191 Price: $25.00 US

|
Description: Dark Multi Faux Moonstone Cabochons/Rhinestones Dress Clip - While similar to the above dress clip, I have had this in other colors over the years and never found it as a "pair", so this may have originally been intended to be a "single", and is just enough larger at 2" x 1 3/8" to have not been a pair. There are no signs that this was originally enameled, and all the rhinestones appear to be original and in great shape, with only a hint of yellowing. Silvertone potmetal setting. Colors of cabochons are a pretty yellow, medium blue, moss green and raspberry. Excellent condition. Item: ND5-216 Price: $39.50 US |

Description: Multi Pastel Faux Moonstone Cabochon Brooch - This "flipped" symmetrical design looks like a duette, but it is a brooch. Done with light blue, light yellow, medium green and raspberry colored round faux moonstone cabochons in a deco design, with scallops on one side. The clear stones in this piece were starting to yellow and fall out, so I have completely restoned the clear rhinestones. Potmetal setting, 2 5/8" x 1 1/4". This would look great on a black purse. Item: NP5-211 Price: $45.00 US |

Description: World War I Era Necklace and Bracelet Set - Actually I'm not certain whether this would have been made before or after WWI but I believe it is of that time frame. Large fancy cut rhinestones are prong set in settings next to floral embossed metal settings. On the necklace small clears dangle from beneath each large clear, while on the bracelet all stones are the large fancy cut clears. A few of the large stones have yellowed a little and while they could be replaced I believe you would have to probably replace all the stones and then you would lose it's vintage look somewhat. Both necklace and bracelet have brass filigree box clasps. Necklace will fit about a 14 1/2" neck; bracelet is about 6 3/4". It continues to be more and more difficult to find this age of piece in excellent, wearable condition. Item: NS5-118 Price: $79.50 US ![]() |

Description: Long Green Glass Flapper Style Necklace - Done as a "endless strand" i.e. no clasp, this measures just shy of 30" and has a 3 1/4" center drop. All beads appear to be in good shape, no nicks or problems that I detected. Cuts are old style; rounds have four sides with hexagonal tables. All done in a light emerald color; while there might be some slight shade variation the hue is all the same and not different - I'm not certain why the photo made some of the beads look almost aqua, they are not. Restrung for your security on dark green silk. Item: NN5-137 Price: $47.50 US Sorry, SOLD! ![]() |

Description: 1930's Large Topaz and Multi Green Rhinestone Stylized Floral Brooch - 3 1/8" x 2 1/2". This great design was done in several color variations (I recently had it in pink/clear); this version is in topaz yellow and mint green and green tourmaline rhinestones. Incredibly, the piece had almost all of its original stones, including the channel set baguettes, which would have been impossible to match. Other than replacing a few missing stones, the only flaw in this piece is a wrong replacement (the clear rhinestone at the bottom of the piece), which I cannot remove without damaging the piece. 3 1/4" x 2 1/2". Pinback works well, minimal foil loss at wear points on large ovals. Item: NP5-202 Price: $79.50 US |

Description: Green and Frosted Clear Bead Necklace - This piece features gorgeous emerald green and clear glass beads that look almost like handblown glass "pears" in the center section, with frosted and pearlized clear beads and various emerald green round and seed beads making up the chain sections. Spring ring clasp looks newer and I think this may have been restrung at some point (not by me!). Approximately 20" long. Very interesting piece. Item: UN12-156 Price: $27.50 US |

Description: Large Czech Style Pendant Necklace - Multi jeweltone pendant with a floral and leaf motif. Slightly domed pendant measures 2 1/2" x 1 3/4". Chain is not original; measures 20". Item: UN3-027 Price: $39.00 US ![]() |

Description: Huge Clear Rhinestone Floral Brooch - But, no ordinary floral! This 4 1/2" x 1 5/8" piece is all darkened silvertone metal, with center floral "head" having no stones, but leaves and stem are all done with pave set rhinestones and veins in leaves have been traced with black enamel. Slight enamel loss, and some of the clears are replacements. Very good condition, substantial heft, great price. Item: NPRLS5-622 Price: $45.00 US |

Description: Stylized Basket Brooch - This large 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" piece is very open and airy looking. All set with clear round rhinestones, which are surprisingly all prong set, which accounts for the fact that all stones appear to be original, and are quite sparkly. I'm not sure whether this originally was goldtone or silvertone; front side has areas of both goldtone and silvertone; back is all goldtone. Pinstem is longer than normal but looks to be original, an indicator of this being a 1920's piece. Very nice condition. Item: NPRLS-646 Price: $32.50 US |

Description: Pink Faux Moonstone/Rhinestone Brooch -This appears to be a bellflower design, with the floral head coming down from upper leaves, rather than the more conventional direction. Round glass cabochons in pink make up the "bell", with the leaves and border all pave set. Many of the small clears have darkened. Plating looks to be perhaps a light rhodium plate?? and this has a Trifari looks to it, but is unmarked and design doesn't seem quite right for Trifari. Item: NPRLS5-648 Price: $49.50 US |

Description: Large Czech Style Brooch - The back of this brooch looks for all the world as if it should be marked L/N or a similar signature but I can find nothing. Large center prong unfoiled dark blue oval glass sotne is surrounded by a row of lighter blue square rounds alternating with medium blue small rounds, border row is of larger medium blue rounds and ends have the same medium blue and small blue rounds, given the brooch a "pointed oval" shape. Top side has a goldtone look to the metal, but apparently this has worn off the back side as it is a dark grey for the most part. A few of the medium blue stones are a little darker than the others; I am pretty sure this is a by-product of time rather than stone replacements. 2 1/2" x 1 3/4". 1920's. Item: NPRLS5-644 Price: $45.00 US |

Description: Woodpecker Pin with Moveable Head - Okay, I'm not an orthnithologist so I'm only guessing this is a woodpecker, but the head moves (in fact, it will come back at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the piece!). Body is done in clear pave, head is done in burgundy red enamel, with yellow enamel on beak, and green rhinestone eye, with black and grey enamel feathers. Tree branch is also pave with black and burgundy red enamel. Enameling is worn at high spots, and the yellow on the beak is mostly gone, but all pave seems to be original and is quite sparkly. Potmetal. About 3" x 1". Fun piece, quite good condition. Item: NPRLS5-685 Price: $37.50 US |

Description: Excellent Mint Green Flapper Bead Necklace - This piece gets its gentle but sparkly color from the fact that the beads are green lined clear faceted hexagonal? seed beads. Tubular stitch; ends terminate with a wider "bowling pin" type finish, and then looping tassles. About 52 1/2" (I have doubled this on the neck form for photography purposes). While presumably many of the necklaces from this era were home-made, it is my feeling that this was professionally done, excellent quality and I can find no flaws here. Really nice piece. Description: Beautiful Frosted Clear and Topaz Colored Flapper Style Necklace - Frosted clear beads alternate with amber colored czech firepolished crystals along the chain, with the center having large teardrop shaped beads and large rounds. Tassle is 6 silky strands of tiny clear seed beads that terminate with a single amber colored bead and a single seed bead to hold it in place. All original, excellent condition. Endless (no clasp) style is 28" with the entire tassle measuring 4". Item: NN5-217 Price: $47.50 US |

Description: Triple Row Square Rhinestone Collarette - This looks very similar to the Catamore sterling pieces that I have seen, but this one has no marks. All clear stones are prong set, with the links attached at the top but not the bottom so that this will lay properly. Deco type push in hidden clasp, unknown metal setting. Excellent condition. 1/2" wide and 14 1/2" long, so this will be a choker length for a smaller person. Item: NN5-253 Price: $65.00 US |

Description: Czechoslav Bead and Stone Necklace in Blue - The focal point of this necklace is a large step cut rectangular glass stone, unfoiled, set in a frame with pink and golden topaz colored round and diamond shaped rhinestones. Chain is made of individually linked blue glass beads that alternate larger and smaller beads toward the front of the chain. Larger beads have goldtone endcaps. Spring ring clasp is marked "Czechoslav" on female end. About 16". Very good condition, a few bubbles in the center glass piece should be visible in closeup photo, and some chipping along the bottom edge that I didn't see until about the 3rd time over. Description: Camphor Glass Bracelet and Sterling Filigree Brooch - Though I am selling these individually, I have pictured them together because of their similarities. Delicate bracelet has an octagonal center link, with camphor glass centered with a single clear stone set in a small square. Link on either side is a double circle in filigree, with small open rectangular links leading to a diamond shaped filigree latch type clasp (see picture), 6 7/8" x 7/16" at widest point, with chain portion being 3/16" wide. Excellent condition, I see no flaws here. Bar type pin is done in sterling filigree and centered with a single unfoiled clear stone. Sterling mark is on the back under the rim. Pin back has rolling clasp, indicating perhaps a late 1920's piece. Since there is no sign of tarnish I am assuming this has some kind of plating. 1 11/16" x 3/4", excellent condition with only a very slight bend in the pin stem. Quality pieces. Description: Marcasite and Clear Rhinestone Necklace - This is probably a fairly recent piece but I am putting it in this category because of the styling rather than the age. Leaf and floral motif is set with marcasites with the exception of a clear rhinestone on either end and one in the pendant portion. Side chain is an oxydized round snake; lobster claw clasp and adjustable length, this will extend to 17 1/2" maximum. Pewtery type setting, excellent condition. Item: NN-251 Price: $12.50 US ![]() |

Description: Green and Frosted Clear Bead Flapper Style Necklace - Unusual for a necklace of this type is that it has a clasp; even though it could probably be slipped over your head, it would be safer to use the clasp and not chance breaking the stringing. Clasp is an old style brass tubular push-in v clasp. Chain is done with lime green seed beads in groups of 3 alternating with lightly frosted unfaceted round clear beads. Toward the tassel are light emerald and larger dark emerald faceted beads. Tassel itself is largely the same seed beads that terminate with two of the frosted beads on each strand. Other than a small wear spot on the brass clasp I see no flaws in the piece. 22" long plus 4" for complete tassel portion. Item: NN5-204 Price: $29.50 US |

Description: Vanderbilt Hotel NY Souvenir Item? - I rarely sell anything that isn't jewelry but this item was just too unusual to pass up. Marked "The Vanderbilt Hotel N.Y." and G M Co (I am assuming this is the mark for Gorham Manufacturing Co.) with an anchor mark in a shield, followed by E P (electroplate?) and C 2172, and then a "pipe" mark which I believe is a date mark of 1911. Done in a kind of Neo-Classical bow and festoon style, this has what appears to be the Vanderbilt family crest on one side. I am assuming this was either a souvenir piece, like a miniature loving cup, or perhaps a small vase that would have perhaps had a glass insert. Approximately 3" x 1 3/4" x 1 1/4". The only other items I could find online with Vanderbilt Hotel NY on them were either postcards or a certificate. The Vanderbilt Hotel was a residential luxury hotel in Manhatten, on Park Avenue between 33rd and 34th Streets, built by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt in 1912 and opened in 1913. Mr. Vanderbilt subsequently died during the sinking of the Lusitania. This landmark still exists today but it is my understanding that the exterior for the lower floors was redone in the 1960's. The interior bottom floor is presumably in the NYC if not National Historic Register but the future of the preservation of the building seems to be questionable.
