Description: Seed Bead "Fluff Ball" Necklace in Shades of Blue - Extremely unusual necklace of tiny, tiny seed beads done in six different shades of blue running from a dark blue navy to an almost seafoam aqua. Meticulously made; honeycomb type screw clasp appears to be original. 16" length; fun to touch! Since this is probably somewhere in the 70 year age range and the stringing appears to be all original, I would handle carefully as you DON'T want to restring this! Still very wearable if one is careful.

Item: XN4-066

Price: $65.00 US

Description: Black and White Seed Bead Circular Netted Necklace - That's right, these beads are strung so that they form a 1/2" wide tube. Necklace measures 16+" . Black and white combinations are always popular; this would work with almost any kind of clothing. Clasp is also beaded, a "knob and loop" type.

Item: XN4-067

Price: $22.50 US

Description: Red Pressed Glass Crystal Bead and Seed Bead Flapper Necklace - 30" endless strand with 3" tassle. (No clasp.) I am assuming these are pressed because the bead edges are not sharp and the beads are somewhat irregular. The seed beads appear to be clear with red lining; strung on red threat for upper portion; bottom portion strung on black thread. This may indicate that the tassle has been restrung or perhaps just done by a different person. Very delicate feeling.

Item: XN4-086

Price: $35.00 US

•••

Description: Brown Lattice Design Flapper Lariat with Tassle - I have looped this around the neckform for photography purposes - this measures 54" plus 2 - 3" tassles, making this about 5 feet long. I am guessing that this was a homemade item from the 1920's, but it was well done and is in perfect condition as far as I can tell. "Boho" is the hot buzzword for this fall, meaning Bohemian styles with an artsy, even gypsy like ethnic feel, and this may be the right thing for those fall "peasanty" clothes - lariats can be worn in many ways. Let your fashion imagination go wild!

Description: Black and White Glass Melon Bead Necklace - Choker necklace with adjustable hook will fit up to 14 1/2" neck. Nice weight. Hook is marked Japan, looks to date to the 1920's or 1930's.

Item: XN4-087

Price: $32.50 US

Description: Malachite and Green Glass Bead Necklace - This 24" strand of graduated malachite beads ranges from 7mm to 13mm. Excellent quality, beautiful beads, separated by emerald green glass faceted rounds. Safety type clasp has had the plating worn off, but everything else is in excellent condition. Malachite is a more expensive gemstone bead and this is a bargain price for this piece. It would go nicely with the other malachite bead piece on this page.

Description: Amber Colored Glass Bead Necklace Heavy, excellent quality glass bead necklace. Endless 40" strand has same pattern all the way around. 12 of each of the two largest sized beads, separated by larger amber colored rondelles, small clear rondelles and small irregularly cut amber colored rounds. All hand knotted. this is a single strand that has been doubled only to photograph better!

Item: XN4-039

Price: $72.50 US

Description: Made in Italy Torsade Seed Bead Necklace Set - This set combines chalk (opaque) white seed beads and clear, white lined seed beads into a multi strand (approximately 57!) necklace and clip earrings. Necklace has an adjustable hook clasp and should fit up to a 17" neck (this could be easily extended if desired). Earrings are 1" in diameter and a half inch deep. Goldtone findings, clips are marked "Made" and "Italy". Tiny bit of verdigris on last link of tail, otherwise I see no flaws here. For this price you couldn't buy the components.

Item: XSRLS-696

Price: $25.00 US

•••

Description: Malachite Bead Necklace - These appear to be genuine handcut malachite gemstone beads with small kelly green seed beads as spacers.  Graduated beads go from about 7mm to 23mm and are more of a flattened round than a true round.  Necklace measures about 27" and has a high quality safety clasp; heavy, substantial feel.  Malachite is one of the more expensive of the semi-precious stones.

Description: Pink and White Venetian Glass Bead Necklace - When you see a necklace like this up close you can easily develop an appreciation for what glass bead artisans do. Opaque blush pink wound beads alternate with translucent darker pink beads and fancy clear beads to which little wisps of pink and white glass have been applied to make flowers, stripes, scrolls, S's and dots. Of special note are the floral beads. The colors in this piece are lovely and clear, and for the woman who loves pink beads this will be a treasured piece for many years to come. 20+", spring ring clasp.

Item: XN4-143

Price: $65.00 US

•••

Description: Light Blue Marbled and Off-White Opaque Bead Necklace - I am not sure if this is considered glass or ceramic; beads are cool to the touch. Claspless, this measures about 26" and appears to be on original stringing, though the clasp may have been removed or shortened at some point. Substantial feeling weight-wise. Beads graduate with the largest bead measuring 14mm. Blue beads are slightly deeper blue than blue lace agate, but I am assuming are meant to simulate them.

Item: XN4-110

Price: $29.50 US

Description: Tan and Topaz Glass Bead Necklace - An intriguing piece, great with all the brown clothing currently in style, done with puzzle type beads, unusual "candy" beads, crystal beads in rondelle, round and rim-faceted bicone shapes, as well as smaller tan rounds and seed bead type opaque white beads. Spring ring clasp not original (I have restrung this on beadalon), about 16 1/4". Fun by itself or as part of layers of beads.

Item: XN4-131

Price: $20.00 US

Description: Multi Strand Pale Mauve Seed Bead Necklace Set - Actually this has a certain amount of variety in color but it is quite subtle. The necklace has 24 strands, 12 of which are pale and 12 of which are slightly darker. (Seed beads are clear with a slight difference in the lining color which accounts for the difference in color.) The necklace clasp is hidden in a metal flower centered with kind of opal-y looking ballotini and a single clear rhinestone. Clip earrings are done like small round pillows with the bead strands covering an inner liner. Earrings are 1" in diameter, necklace is about 24" . Earring findings are somewhat worn but I see nothing that affects appearance, which is excellent.

Item: XSRLS-611

Price: $35.00 US

•••

Description: Japan Glass Bead Necklace in Light Blue Opaque with Raspberry Swirls and Goldstone Flakes - Unusual, better quality single strand beads with small brass spacers between the larger bead stations. This was originally strung on two colors of silk thread and the stringing had broken at the extension end so I have restrung this. Adjusts to fit up to a 14 1/2" neck and could be extended farther if one had matching beads or brass chain. Hook clasp is much more ornate than usual with the word "Japan" in the center and geometric patterns going on either side the entire length of the hook. Matching clip earrings are 3/4" in diameter. Excellent condition.

Description: Dichroic Satin Glass and Aurora Borealis Bead Made in Germany Necklace - Top picture of necklace was photographed under halogen lighting, bottom picture under fluorescent. Boy, was I surprised to find out that these beads were not only beautiful but color change, from aqua to lavender. Nested double strand choker, fancy aurora borealis rhinestone set clasp is marked Made in Germany on soldered disk. Shorter strand is about 15". Beautiful!

Description: 24" Malachite Bead Necklace - Another of these exceptional necklaces, with beads going from 6mm to 12.5 mm. Barrel style clasp, separators are rather large green seed beads. Almost identical to the necklace at the top of the page (XN4-142) except for clasp and spacer beads.

Item: XN4-172

Description: Opaque Yellow and Jonquil Aurora Borealis Crystal Necklace and Earring Set - This necklace came to us as one long strand (about 60 inches), obviously restrung and missing some of the small brass spacer beads. I have restrung this to what I believe it was originally, a three strand necklace, using all the original beads and only adding some of the missing brass spacer beads. The large accent beads are a lemon yellow with a white stripe bordered with goldtone, each of which is flanked by large jonquil yellow aurora borealis crystal beads. Smaller yellow opaque beads are used to stretch out the design, along with smaller jonquil crystal beads, the brass spacers, and some endcaps on the larger beads. There were a couple of left over beads which I have fashioned into dangling earrings on French wire findings. The necklace is a nested style, with the longest strand being about 21", plus an additional inch for the fancy push -in clasp. The earrings dangle 1 3/4" and could easily be shortened. Excellent condition except that original spacer beads were quite worn. Nice with a scoop-necked top or with one of the simple shift type dresses that Mrs. Obama is making so popular.

Item: XN4-186

Price: $45.00 US

•••

Description: Three Strand Pink and Hot Pink Bead Necklace - This is an unusual piece that mixes satin finished beads, glass crystal beads, plastic beads, black spacers and endcaps, rhinestone rondelles and brass findings. While I don't believe these are Haskell, someone used findings to give this piece as Haskellesque look, using brass filigree over the strand terminals and a brass floral hook clasp. The plastic beads were used, I feel, to keep this from being inordinately heavy - even with them it is not very light due to the number of components in general and glass beads in particular. Shortest strand is about 22", plus about 4 1/2" of adjustable clasp. Excellent condition. Beads are making a comeback and look great with the "shift" type dresses that Mrs. Obama is popularizing.

Description: Dark Blue and White Spiral Glass Bead Necklace - Interesting glass beads, probably lampworked, in a single strand, handknotted using dark blue thread, using very large knots due to the size of the bead holes. Clasp is goldtone, push-in type, with no markings. About 26". Excellent condition.

Item: XNRLS-596

Price: $45.00 US

Description: Moonglow and Rhinestone Ball Demi Set - This necklace, bracelet and earring set are by an unknown maker but little touches make me believe this was a more expensive set for this type of thing. Color is a beige with just a hint of pink. Necklace alternates large rhinestone balls most of the way around, and finishes with a rhinestone ball at the end. Adjustable hook clasp, 15 1/2" fully extended. Bracelet uses same rhinestone balls and only slightly smaller moonglow beads, almost 8" long, and finishes with a baguette rhinestone set foldover clasp that makes me think Trifari; earrings are a larger half-ball in moonglow, surrounded by a baguette border, 1" in diameter, clip findings. Excellent condition. The 19 rhinestone balls alone justify the price of the set.

Item: XSRLS-697

Description: Extra Long Aqua Ceramic? Bead Necklace - At 58", this can easily be doubled or tripled; I have tripled it for photographic purposes and it looks great. These are made to simulate genuine turquoise, fairly cold to the touch. and range from 11mm to 4mm, alternating 3 sizes all along the chain. Spring ring clasp is fairly old. Very versatile piece and certainly excellent with current fashions.
