Description: Cameo with Extended Pinstem - This shell cameo is a bit of a mystery to me. An almost identical cameo is shown on p. 99 of the Clements' Cameos: Classical to Costume , listed as a mid-19th century pendant with an etched and beaded frame. I would have guessed this to be an older cameo except that even though the pin stem is extended, the locking safety clasp does not appear to be a replacement, and as locking safety clasps were not in general use until the 1930's, it would appear that this is not mid-19th century. So, if I'm wrong, you get a real bargain! The bezel set cameo measures 13/16" x 9/16", frame measures 1 1/2" x 1 3/8". Item: PP1-006 Price: $87.50 US |
